“When I was about seven years old,
I had been labeled dyslexic. I would go blank, feel anxious, nervous,
bored, frustrated, dumb. All through school and well into my career, I
felt like I had a secret.
“I was introduced to the writings
of L. Ron Hubbard… and everything fell into place. I had a lot of
catching up to do, but that was it! I realized I could absolutely learn
anything that I wanted to learn.
“I don’t want people to go
through what I went through. I want kids to be able to solve life’s
problems.”
Isaac
Hayes
Isaac Hayes, an Academy Award-winning
musician, is the spokesperson for the World Literacy Crusade.
"The thing that will
determine the quality of life of our youth is their ability to read, write
and communicate.
"What counts is how hard
and how fast we work to give them these skills one by one. I have worked
to help the World Literacy Crusade spread — first to church and
community groups throughout Los Angeles, then to other cities and even
other countries. We now have thirty groups operating in the US and around
the world.
"We formed a partnership
with the NAACP with the goal of establishing a World Literacy Crusade
program in every city that has an NAACP chapter. Never in my life have
I felt so optimistic that all our young people can have the chance they
deserve to build a decent future."
Anne
Archer
Anne Archer, Academy Award-nominated
actress, is also a spokesperson for Applied Scholastics. Among her many
activities for Applied Scholastics, she has raised funds for its community
programs and has helped establish centers in Hollywood and Portland, Oregon.
"Sitting in our homes each evening
we are bombarded by an avalanche of bad news. News that thrusts upon us
this terrible plight that has reduced our schools to battlegrounds. Yet,
I have personally seen ex-gang members reading with a thirst for knowledge,
and a burning desire to catch up on the education they had missed. What
can cause such a miraculous reversal? L.
Ron Hubbard's Study Technology.
"Organizations such as the World Literacy
Crusade and the Hollywood Education and Literacy Project are bringing
about such miracles daily and even hourly."
John
Travolta
Award-winning actor John Travolta is a
long time spokesperson for Applied Scholastics and Study Technology. John
has tirelessly promoted the Study Technology of L. Ron Hubbard in the
news media, on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and through fundraisers
in the private sector.
"Study Technology enabled
me, someone who never finished high school, to achieve one of my greatest
goals — to be a jet pilot. And not just that, but a jet pilot licensed
to fly six different types of jet aircraft. I have also personally seen
this miraculous mentoring tool bring hope and joy to the lives of many
children whether in inner-city communities, schools or at home.
"I hope you'll take the time to find
out more about Study Technology and Applied Scholastics. It might change
your mind about the kind of future we can create for all our children."
